As you can see, this blog is based on the wordpress platform. Anyone having a suggestion of an alternative blog engine? I read this article about different blog engines but I can’t decide on what to try. Any thought? Anyone having any experiences of the Drupal CMS? It looks easy to use but I wonder how to install it.

I would definitely go for Drupal - the install is straightforward. Just untar the Drupal tar.gz - there you are. You should use PHP 5.2 [it runs on PHP 4 and 5.1.2 as well without any problem, though]- some sexy modules will require it and its simply the better PHP anyway.

If that is too much for you still go for silverstripe [silverstripe.com] - a better useinterface and cleaner admininstration than Drupal but much less modules and addons available - they just went open source last year. So you can expect that to change over the months to come - but blogging is set up in 15min. Their IRC chat offers basically instant help.
