Guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G OS 3.0 with QuickPWN

by Harshad on June 19, 2009

iPhone The iPhone 3.0 firmware has created a lot of buzz around the world. Apple’s features packed firmware has been praised by many iPhone and iPod Touch users.

The only thing annoys during the entire iPhone 3.0 upgrade process is the weird error message! The very high load on Apple’s servers is the main reason behind this error message. There are thousands of people simultaneously trying to update their device. It would be wise to wait for few more hours so that traffic load will come down and you won’t get any error in the process.

However, the iPhone 3G users need to wait for iPhone Dev team to release ultrasnOw unlocking software tool. But they can jailbreak their devices with the help of QuickPWN. Here’s the simple guide to make it easy for you. You can use it on Windows as well as Mac.

Please Note:

The official QuickPWN version for iPhone 3.0 will be releasing soon. As soon as QuickPWN goes live, we will update this post with more information.

Guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G OS 3.0 with QuickPWN

Requirements:

Steps to follow:

1. Install iTunes 8.2 on your computer.

2. Create a folder QuickPWN 3.0 on your desktop and move iPhone 3.0 firmware file & QuickPWN 3.0 (unzipped) software to it.

3. Connect iPhone to the computer and start iTunes. It will automatically detect your iPhone. Select the appropriate device from the list.

4. Now hold the ‘Shift’ key and click on ‘Restore’ button. Wait for iTunes to update your iPhone to iPhone 3.0 firmware.

5. Once you have done with it launch QuickPWN 3.0 from the same folder. Select the firmware from QuickPWN and click on ‘Open’ button.

6. If the .ipsw file is correct, QuickPWN will indicate blue arrow to move ahead.

7. As per your choice, select Cydia, Installer or Replace Boot Logos and just click on the arrow button.

8. QuickPWN 3.0 will display a message to confirm your iPhone 3G is still connected via USB cable before continuing. Click the arrow button to continue.

9. Your iPhone will be moved to recovery mode. In recovery mode, you will have to perform two instructions – Hold the Home button for 5 seconds & Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds

10. Release the Power button, but keep holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

11. If everything goes smoothly, QuickPWN 3.0 will detect your iPhone in DFU mode and it will begin with jailbreaking.

12. QuickPWN 3.0 will prompt the message that process was successful.

That’s it! Enjoy the iPhone 3.0 firmware on your iPhone.

Hey Harshad,
I have been trying to unlock my girlfriends 3G iphone we bought yesterday off someone who got a 3gs. We got the iphone via craigslist. Anyway I did all the steps and got the phone to insall cydia BUT her iphone does not show any service or have any service. I did it 3 times and got all the same results, I even tried applying yellow snow and still no results i am about to give up unless there is any help you may be able to give me. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Harshad June 21, 2009 at 8:44 am

Hey Gary,

You will need ultrasnOw software to unlock iPhone 3G, which will allow you to choose the carrier(service). Just wait for iPhone Dev team to release it. You can read more about ultrasnOw here.

Don’t use any other method, it may lock your iPhone permanently.

Gary June 21, 2009 at 9:23 am

Thank you for the fast response, Do you have any idea when UltraSnow is coming out?

Harshad June 21, 2009 at 10:24 am

I have no idea about its release. Just keep visiting here for more updates. :)

rahul June 23, 2009 at 1:37 am

Hi, i have downloaded firmware 3.0 ,ut not yet installed. My current firmware is 2.2, carrier service is cracked using yellowsnow, so should i go ahead crack firmware 3.0 using redsnow or wait for dev team to come out with ultrasnow and quickwpn 3.0

Harshad June 23, 2009 at 3:23 am

Hey rahul,

Don’t use redsnOw to jailbreak & unlock, it will not work properly on your iPhone. Just wait for ultrasnOw.

rahul June 23, 2009 at 9:29 pm

hi harshad, UltrasnOw is finally out, pls let me know when Quickwpn for Firmware Is Released.

After the upgrade to OS3 you can now unlock your 3g phone too

Ultrasn0w for iPhone 3G is ready!

Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
Run Cydia or Icy
Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
Reboot your iPhone 3G
T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
Enjoy
