Download RedsnOw 0.7.2 to Jailbreak & Unlock iPhone 3.0 Firmware

Many iPhone users have problems with redsnOw 0.7 and 0.7.1 version, and hence iPhone Dev team has released redsnOw 0.7.2.

The new redsnOw version comes with minor bug fixes. It works fine with iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch and iPod Touch 2G.

Do check the instructions here before you can actually start working with this tool. If you’ve successfully unlocked your iPhone using redsnOw 0.7 then you don’t have to run this software again. Just enjoy iPhone 3.0 OS.

i have a 2g iphone
i updated to 3.0 and tryed to jailbreak it
but it is stuck on itunes usb wiith a pink background
iv tryed quickpwn which didnt work and also tryed
redsnow it finishs it but when my phoen restarts its
still the same screen :*(
plz help

Jacob July 24, 2009 at 8:08 am: You will need to downgrade your firmware to get rid of the Pink Screen. I have had that same Pink Screen…I downloaded the firmware and then updated again and it works fine.

hi i have an i phone 3g it was unlocked and jailbroken but i am now restoring the phone can u tell hw to unlock and jailbreak again or will the restore affect the unlocking

If you restore the iPhone then it’ll get unlocked again. But you can use ultrasnOw to unlock your iPhone 3G. So, go ahead.

Achin January 5, 2010 at 10:24 pm: hey i have downloaded all the firmware for iphone 3g that i have . previously with redsn0w .8 have jailbreaked my i phne and now the version that i have in it is3.0.1 7A400. i used redsn0w to jailbreak and repo666.ultrasnow to unlock it and it was succesful but now i want to upgrade it to 3.1.2 but now the 3.1.2 firmware is not accepted by the redsnow o.8 i have. it says that the ipsw is not ecognised..!

can u help me with that..!

hi i have3 restored my iphone but i dont know what software its on and i have downloade redsnow 0.8 and i have downloaded the zip file of 3.0 software when i hold shift in i tunes it doesnt show zip folder and when i click on browse in reddsnow the zip file is also not there and right now my phone is waiting for an o 2 sim card so i can setup my iphone but i dont have one can u please tell me how i can unlock and jailbreak it using rednsnow without a sim thanks

Harshad August 1, 2009 at 2:07 pm: Well, you can’t unlock your iPhone without a SIM card.
However, you can use Turbo SIM card to use iPhone with all features, but I won’t recommend you to do so.

You can use any sim card to unlock your iPhone.

so if i have a new 3Gs i can put in my tmobile sim and plug it into my computer and i will be able to update it with itunes. then i can run redsnow to jailbreak and get cydia and install unltrasn0w all with a tmobile simcard in the whole time? it doesnt make sense to be able to use a tmobile sim card before it has been unlocked.

hi I like your tutorial you are great man but there is a problem after i everything is done my iphone does NOT restart. I have checked everything its connected to my computer and it was turned off but still it does go on redsnow is saying waiting for you iphone to restart but its not restarting plz help me my iphone is not unlock now

Jailbroken , unlocked 3G Iphone worked great till I downloaded some free apps yesterday then connected it to Itunes which asked me to update phone- not knowing i needed to customize first for firmware to do this, i went ahead and error message 1611 & 2006 came up 3x with “Itunes connect” symbol on screen. So I tried again not knowing to customize the phone before allowing the update, then the phone screen went to a “slide for emergency calls only” button and changed languages. Now it will only show this slide button notice with “Itunes connect” symbol behind it and I don’t know what to do to restore it. Please help! Many Thanks!

it wont let me do that… when I plug it into my computer now nothing comes up on itunes screen or iphone screen… how do i restore when no option for that comes up?

Oh, that’s weird! Download iTunes 9 and try it once again. You can check this video to restore your iPhone.

So I followed the video you sent to watch and the phone appeared tp restore yet as it was finishing up tunes cam up with a “does not support this SIM card message”… which is one of the reasons I needed an unlocked phone.
It was after downloading itunes 9 that my iphone problems began… i plugged it into my computer, the update popped up, I didn’t think twice about it, clicked ok and it was then my iphone probs began… what do I do now? … Thanks so much!

If you’ve updated a previously unlocked iPhone with new official 3.1 firmware then it is possible that your iPhone is permanently locked. I would suggest you to downgrade it to iPhone 3.0 OS and check whether it is getting unlocked on 3.0 firmware or not.

At last! Someone asking and answering my question – but how do I downgrade to 3.0 if the iPhone only shows up on my computer as a storage device?

Harshad November 23, 2009 at 8:01 pm: If iTunes is detecting iPhone on your computer then you can downgrade it to 3.0 firmware. As far as I know there is no alternative method to downgrade your phone.

I unlocked my 2g 3.0 with redsnow. When I put in my tmobile sim, it says “no service”. Any ideas? I’m very new to all of this. Thanks!

Why did you update to 3.1.3 firmware? iPhone dev team has already suggested that jailbreakers and unlockers should stay away from this update. Now, your phone may not work at all, but still I’ll write a guide for the latest firmware, which you can try on iPhone.

download that firmware…save to desktop.

put your phone in DFU mode. if you don’t know how to do that, search for a how-to guide.

connect via USB to itunes. when you’re in, a message will pop up that says: ‘itunes has discovered an iphone in recovery mode.’

you’ll see an option to restore. before you click restore, hold down the shift button. it will browse for a firmware to open, and that firmware will be on the desktop. enjoy.
