Yesterday, Geohot (George Hotz) released first jailbreaking tool for iPhone 3G S. He has named this tool as “Purplera1n” and it only works on Windows platform (except Windows 7).
Purplera1n is just a jailbreaking tool and it won’t unlock iPhone 3G S. However, it is being said that iPhone 3G unlocking tool, ultrasnOw is working properly on iPhone 3G S.
Purplera1n is quite different from other iPhone dev team’s jailbreaking tools. The file size of this tool is too small as compared to QuickPWN and RedsnOw. Another good thing about Purplera1n is that you don’t have to put iPhone 3G S in DFU mode. Check out the following guide to jailbreak iPhone 3G S.
Guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G S OS 3.0 with Purplera1n
Requirements:
Steps to follow:
- Download the program.
- Install iTunes 8.2 if you haven’t already
- Connect your iPhone to the computer
- Open Purplera1n program
- Click on “make it ra1n”
- Wait, and on bootup you should run the installer app of purplera1n called Freeze
- Then you would be instructed on how to complete the jailbreak process.
This is really very simple. Have fun! 
Note: Purplera1n is currently in beta and we won’t recommend you to use it on iPhone 3G S. Some people have reported issues with ‘winterboard’ and other apps. If you still want to try it, backup your iPhone.
