Requirements:
- iTunes 9
- Custom iPhone OS 3.1
- PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac
Important:
Backup your iPhone before using following iPhone 2G jailbreaking and unlocking guide.
Steps to follow:
1. Download all above tools. Create ‘PwnageTool 3.1‘ folder on desktop and save all downloaded files.
2. Run PwnageTool 3.1 on from the folder.
3. Select mode: Simple mode or Expert mode
- Simple mode – It will automatically jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 2G. You don’t have to perform any other operation.
- Expert mode – It gives you facility to choose iPhone OS 3.1 firmware, Cydia etc.
We recommend simple mode as it’s quite fast and reliable.
4. For Expert mode, select your iPhone 2G from screen and click on blue arrow to continue.
5. Now, browse your iPhone OS 3.1 firmware (build iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144) and once again click on blue arrow.
6. Click on ‘General‘ to check the general settings like Activate the iPhone, Enable baseband update and Disable partition wipe-out. Click on blue arrow to go to BootNeuter settings.
7. Check Neuter bootloader, Unlock baseband and Auto-Delete BootNeuter.app in BootNeuter settings. Click on blue arrow again to proceed further.
8. Next step is Cydia settings where you can download various packages. Download packages that you want to use on iPhone and move ahead.
9. You can change or add new logo by selecting ‘Custom logos’.
10. After all the settings, select ‘Build’ and click on blue arrow to perform pwning operations.
11. Follow the instructions on your screen and once done click on Ok.
12. Open iTunes 9 to restore iPhone 2G.
13. Hold the ‘Alt/Option‘ key and click on ‘Restore‘. Select Custom iPhone OS 3.1 IPSW file from ‘PwnageTool 3.1 folder’. iTunes 9 will automatically restore iPhone 3.1 firmware on iPhone.
That’s it! Now you can enjoy iPhone OS 3.1 on your iPhone 2G.
