Is your jailbroken iPhone safe from virus attacks? Nope, it’s not. I have been following news of virus attacks on jailbroken iPhones. Hackers have spotted security holes and managed to inject malicious code in such iPhones.
Previously iPhone hackers used these holes for experimental purpose and did not cause any harm to devices. However, the new virus iPhone/Privacy.A causes more harm than previous ikee virus.
A security firm, Intego has detected iPhone/Privacy.A virus in their labs. According to their expert team, this virus is much different than other iPhone viruses. It allows hacker to connect to jailbroken iPhone which has default root password.
Does it cause any harm to iPhone?
iPhone/Privacy.A can be very much harmful on affected iPhones. Other viruses do give indications on iPhone’s screen, but new virus does not give any indications. Once it comes on your iPhone, it can access all important data including your e-mail, contacts, SMSs, calendars, photos, music files, videos etc. Hacker can use this information for destructive purposes.
How to protect iPhone from virus attack?
iPhone users can protect their device by changing default root password of the iPhone. Don’t keep easy password for root. A combination of alphanumeric characters would be a choice to keep it as a secured password.
Original Apple iPhones are safe from the attack as this virus only targets jailbroken iPhones. So, now it is pretty much clear that iPhone jailbreaking is vulnerable to harmful virus attacks.
