Guide to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Redsn0w 0.9.4

Pwned The redsn0w 0.9.4 jailbreaking tool is now available for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G users. It helps jailbreak latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware.

If you want to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 firmware, you can use following jailbreaking guide for your reference. Please read the note carefully before starting to jailbreak the device .

Note:

  • Redsn0w 0.9.4 only works with iPod Touch (old version), iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G.
  • Redsn0w 0.9.4 can jailbreak and unlock iPhone 2G.
  • Don’t use this guide, if you are not familiar with jailbreaking and unlocking process.

Requirements:

Guide to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Redsn0w 0.9.4

1. Connect your iPhone to computer and sync with iTunes. Update it to iPhone 3.1.3 firmware.

2. Open redsn0w 0.9.4 and select 3.1.2 firmware instead of 3.13.

3. Click on Next and check “Install Cydia” and “Already Pwned” options.

4. Click on Next to patch the kernel.

5. Now put your iPhone in DFU mode by pressing Power and Home button for exact 10 seconds. Release the Power button, but keep holding Home button.

6. iTunes will automatically detect your iPhone. Redsn0w will complete its jailbreaking process.

7. Once you have finished with the process, iPhone will restart and you will get a proper jailbroken iPhone.

As said earlier, iPhone 2G users can unlock their iPhones with the help of BootNeuter app from Cydia.

    The Install seemed to be going well - until the BootNeuter 2.3 was loading.

    I received an error message (but missed what the error said because it went away quickly) while BootNeuter was loading, and when it went to reboot it was stuck on the the boot logo for 20min.

    I decided to try jailbreaking it again.

    I shut down the phone then ran redsn0w again.

    It is now frozen at BootNeuter 2.3 saying "Please Wait determining current settings..." it has stayed like this overnight.

    any advice on what i could do?

    I jailbroke and unlocked my phone. I did locate the bootloader and that I am now fine.

    FINALLY!!! ... I had jailbroken iphone 3G which wouldn't sync.. Accidently restored to firmware 3.1.3 on 5.12.0.1
    After 10 hours of trial, error, nothing working, the correct fix was too simple.
    I Downloaded redsn0w-win_0.9.4 then downloaded a copy of firmware 3.1.2 which I put in the folder c:\users\{your_name}\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates ---I kept the 3.1.3 firmware in the folder as well.
    I kept a spare copyof this on my desktop just in case.
    Plugged in iPhone and ran redsn0w.exe.
    redsn0w asked to me to browse for the correct IPSW Firmware so I chose the 3.1.2 firmware.
    Clicked NEXT.
    After it was successfully identified it PATCHED and gave some options. I only ticked the TOP ONE (install cydia) and NOT the bottom one as in the instruction above.
    Follow instructions to put iphone into recovery mode and walla! A few cartoon graphics on the iphone screen later, I am jailbroken once more. Just open cydia and wait for ssl etc updates.
    Hope this helps someone out.

    Hi everyone,

    I am so sorry that I accidentally upgraded my iPhone 2G on windows XP at my office. I have Windows 7 (64 bit) on my home computer. Here are the scenarios:

    1. When I try to download the Jailbreaking software using my office computer (XP), I am unable to do so for some reason. That tells me that there might be some issues with the software. Does it mean that the new jailbreaking software is not for XP? I am confused. Or it's just IT has blocked it?
    2. I can easily download the software using my home computer (using Windows 7 64-bit). But when I run redsn0w software, I do not see any 3.1.2 firmware to point to.
    3. Since I have already upgraded (by mistake) with the iTunes in my office, do I need to use iTunes at all any more? My home computer has the iTunes that is sync-ed with my daughter's iPhone 3GS (Legitimate) and I cannaot run iTunes as a different user. Do I need iTunes any more?
    2. Where do I get the 3.1.2 firmware (for iPhone 2G, Windows XP) to select from when running redsn0w 0.9.4? I don't see that is there? Do I need to download it separately? Unless I get that, I cannot go any further.

    Any suggestion will be greatly appreaiated.

    Is it even possible to jailbreak the new iphone 3.1.3 software? I have an iphone 3g. It says its possible, and I'm running on windows xp. Any information would be very helpful. I just want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to do something that isn't possible.

    The step with the DFU mode isnt right.. the iPhone needs to be in recovery mode instead of DFU. this process didnt work though.

    I've jailbreak my phone successfully. But i can't use my network. I am from Pakistan. Can any one sort out this issue ?

    Works great except that it got stuck in restore mode at the end. I used Blackra1n to jailbreak and then it forced it out of restore mode.

    My problem now is that I am on 3.1.2 and jailbroken but it did not activate the phone on the AT&T network. Thoughts?

    u need to hold down shft and then update and then choose the update u want or if u want to delete evrything then same thing and just pick 3.1.3 or 3.1.2

  • Hi all people,
    Dev-Team is refusing to post this, why i dont know......
    I was like updating to 3.1.3 and I was like omg!! i am so busted, i was mad, confused and allot of things, but I did found a solution to downgrade incl. the base-band. Its a messy thing to do but it did worked out for me and i have it all back.
    First download your firmware 3.1.2. and put it in a folder named Jailbreak.
    Download redsn0w-win_0.9.4 from Dev-Team
    Download Blaickra1n from Geohot
    Okay, what did i do, i opened redsn0w and selected the 3.1.2 firmware and selected i have a new iphone, (the newest model) 3GS.
    I selected to install cydia and already pawned, and hit next, you will see its loading files to your iphone.....but on your phone you will see a "BLACK" screen. Dont Panic, just let it doing his thing....
    After you did that you do as follow....
    -Make your way to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts.....
    -Drag the host file to your desktop and edit it wit your notepad and add the following line: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com and save it, now copy it back to its root folder (Overwrite it)
    Mean wile you did that you see redsn0w is done with uploading the stuff to you iphone (You will still have the black screen, so still no panic), now open itunes....
    Itunes will notify you it needs to be recoverd and you will do so, over the install from redsn0w (Its still black).
    Now you say okay and hold down the shift button on your keyboard and select the same file as you did wen you used redsn0w. And tell Itunes to recover your iphone (You will see your phone updating the 3.1.2 firmware).
    If i am correct , your iphone is back to 3.1.2 firmware, and you can use Blackra1n to jailbreak or unlock your iphone.
    I really hope i helped some people out, cause i know how it feels to lose all your stuff on your phone...
    If this works for you, tell your friends and call it "SnowBl1nd" haha :P

    This only works if you filed your ECID/SHSH with Saurik's (cydia) server, by simply agreeing to do so when it asked you on the cydia program. If you never did so you're boned. I say this from experience as I have a just bought model with 3.1.3 and can't do anything abought it.
  • Yes, you're right! New models will simply not work with redsn0w 0.9.4 tool.
