Earlier this morning, many blogs have reported about the new “Ac1dSn0w” jailbreak tool for iDevices. But now, we’ve confirmed that this tool is not legal, as it uses Apple’s copyrighted code to bring tethered jailbreak to the iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 based devices.

Pwn-Dev Team, a group of people working on Ac1dSn0w tool, has also confirmed that their tool doesn’t fit into the suggested copyright laws, though it works quite efficient on all the gadgets. In case you haven’t heard about this tool before, here’s brief information -

Ac1dSn0w jailbreak tool has been developed for iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 firmwares, and it will only provide tethered jailbreak to the compatible devices. As far as the method of jailbreaking is concerned, Ac1dsn0w works pretty much similar to the other popular tools like Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze. In fact, it is being promoted as an alternative to these tools.

It offers various features, including Tethered Boot, Exit Recovery and Pwned DFU.

Designed for Mac systems, the tool will help you jailbreak the old generation devices i.e. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 1.

If you’ve downloaded this tool from various sources, you might get into legal trouble. So, please don’t download and install its code on your device. The hackers have also said that they will be releasing a fixed version of Ac1dSn0w, which will not have any copyright issues.

Until they release a new tool, we won’t recommend you to use it on any of the iDevices. You can always use other jailbreak tools that are safe from legal issues.
