Apple iOS 4.01 to fix iPhone 4 Antenna Reception Issue

One month ago everyone was desperately waiting for iPhone 4 and now the situation is quite different. Many people bought iPhone 4 in this week and found that it has antenna reception problem. Due to this issue, people are thinking of buying other competitive phones like HTC EVO 4G, Droid X etc.

Apparently, some enthusiasts have found out that this is just a software bug and few iPhone 3GS users had also recognized this problem after upgrading it to iOS 4. Earlier Apple had suggested iPhone 4 users to ‘hold it differently’. If you hold the iPhone in right hand or with certain position in left hand, it doesn’t show any signal loss on the phone.

Apple knows the importance of iPhone 4 signal reception issue aka ‘Death Grip’. The folks over at Apple Tech Support Forum have suggested that Apple may release iOS 4.01 to fix the signal reception issue.

The fix is expected to address a issue in iOS 4 related to radio frequency calibration of the baseband. Readers who saw the original forum discussions say that the issue is believed to occur when switching frequencies; because the lag is allegedly not calibrated correctly, it results in the device reporting “no service” rather than switching to the frequency with the best signal to noise ratio.

iOS 4 introduced some enhancements to how the baseband selects which frequencies to use, so it makes sense that the error may have crept into those changes. Additionally, this explains why iOS 4 has also caused similar problems for iPhone 3GS users.

Well, Apple has not confirmed this news officially, so we can’t really assure that there will be any fix coming this Monday. Let’s hope that Apple will release a fix in next week.
