Apple needs Intel’s Support to implement USB 3.0 Technology

Earlier this month, many users were expecting USB 3.0 announcement in Apple’s Back to the Mac event, but they didn’t get any scoop from the company. We have been listening to USB 3.0 rumors for quite a while now. However, it may take more time to include this new technology in iMac, MacBook Pro and other iDevices.

Steve Jobs

In an email conversation, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs has clarified the doubts regarding USB 3.0 -

We don’t see USB 3 taking off at this time. No support from Intel, for example.

So, it seems Apple needs support from Intel to build USB 3.0 compatible products. Once Intel provides USB 3.0 technology, Apple would consider adding it into their future devices.

The next version of iPad and rumored touch screen iMacs may get this facility, as Apple is going to launch them in 2011. Of course, it depends on several other factors such as price, compatibility, new technology etc. Steve Jobs has not denied the implementation of USB 3.0 in their devices, and his team is just waiting to get thumbs up from Intel guys. Let’s hope that they bring faster and improved USB performance on Mac very soon.
