CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1 with Android 2.3.4 Released for Android Devices

Android’s most popular custom ROM, CyanogenMod, has rolled out the 7.1 version based on Android 2.3.4 AOSP. It is the first release candidate of the version.

With this update, CyanogenMod team has added support for over 44 Android devices to the ROM now. Some of the newly supported devices are HTC Incredible S, Motorola Cliq XT and LG Optimus 2X.

The new features added in the update are Bluetooth mouse support, swipe to clear Notifications, wake on volume key option and many other. The JavaScript engine in the browser has been updated to V8 for better rendering of websites and browsing performance. The native launcher in CM 7.1 ADWLauncher has been updated with bug fixes and transitions. Moreover, as announced by the team, they now have over 400,000 CM7 users all over.

As the update is a release candidate, there are many bugs still left. You should backup your current ROM using Nandroid first before you install or update to CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1. To download, use ROM Manager on your phone or download directly from mirror network.
