First OTA Update Released for iDevices

After the much needed testing of battery life issue, Apple has released iOS 5.0.1, the first OTA update in iOS history, to the end users. As mentioned, the update basically fixes the bug related to battery life of the device. Apart from this important fix, Apple team has also included some other improvements in today’s firmware update.

As you can see in above picture, Apple has added multitasking gestures to the first generation iPad devices. Some of the Australian iOS 5 users had reported voice recognition difficulties with Siri voice assistant, but now this issue has been fixed in iOS 5.0.1. This firmware update will also address the bugs with Documents in the Cloud.

If you haven’t tried iOS 5.0.1 Beta update on your device, here are the steps that would be needed to download the OTA update.

1. Go to ‘Settings’.

2. Select ‘General’.

3. Tap on the ‘Software Update’ option.

That’s it! Now, iOS software will check whether there is a new update available for your device. If yes, then a new screen will appear with the changelog and ‘Download’ button.
