iPhone Dev team is back again! PwnageTool 4.01 jailbreak is now available for iPod Touch and iPhone users. Apple has released iOS 4 on this Monday and PwnageTool 4.01 works smoothly on the new firmware.
Apparently, PwnageTool 4.01 is an updated version of PwnageTool 4.0 and it fixes iBooks bugs that are reported by its users. The new jailbreak tool supports only selected devices i.e. iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.
Since iOS 4 firmware update is a major update from Apple team, it’s wise to read the following guidelines before trying new jailbreaking tools.
PwnageTool 4.01 Guidelines
- If you have used Spirit tool to jailbreak your iDevices earlier, stay away from PwnageTool 4.01. It will simply not work on Spirit jailbroken devices.
- PwnageTool 4.01 does not work on iPhone 2G, iPod Touch and iPod Touch 3G.
- It works only with the official iOS 4 firmware. So, don’t try this jailbreak tool with beta firmware or GM version.
- It doesn’t support new bootrom on iPhone 3GS.
- iPhone 3G users with iPhone 3.1.3 firmware might find error while going through recovery mode. You can use DFU mode instead of recovery mode.
