Many iOS 4 jailbreakers are confused these days due to no certainty over new bootrom jailbreak tool. An unknown hacker had developed a patch “Spirit2Pwn” to jailbreak previously Spirit jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch.
Now, iH8sn0w has released a new jailbreak tool, Sn0wbreeze 1.7 for iOS 4. The new jailbreak version works on old bootrom as well as new bootrom of iPhone 3GS. The hacker has also added support to iPod Touch 3G with iPhone 3.1.2 firmware (or 3.1.2 blobs).
Sn0wbreeze 1.7 is currently designed to work on iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G. Although this tool is jailbreaking all above devices, iPod Touch 2G (MC), iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS has a tethered jailbreak. If you reboot these devices or switch off due to battery discharge, you will have to jailbreak them again to enjoy the iOS 4 jailbreaking experience.
Sn0wbreeze 1.7 jailbreak method is similar to what we have seen in earlier version of this tool. However, new supported devices will have a different method. If you’ve done with iOS 4 jailbreak, use Ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock the phone.

Sn0wbreeze 1.7 supports iPhone 3GS, but I'm not sure about 5.13.04 baseband. I'll confirm it and let you know.

So those of us that have 5.13.04 just have to be a little more patient. They're very close to an unlock jailbreak for all versions. You can check out the story @ iclarified.com it says they are working on the background issue and it will be released asap!

Ok, thanks. This is off topic but is anyone having problems with their “mail” not updating by itself on ios4? It used to give a tone/vibrate when I got new mail but now I have to refresh it myself to see if I got new mail. Is this another big with ios4?

Maybe I can help everyone… This will not work on the NEW bootrom. Jailbreak is coming soon once the 4.01 firmware is released from apple. Then BAM every model will be supported. There are multiple sources on the web and twitter. Usually all iPhone hackers have a blog and use twitter to let iPhone users what's going on. So that is the word for now. A hacker actually posted a pic of the unlock/ jailbreak in process that's going to be released. They're just waiting for Apple to release the firmware update.

Yes, you can downgrade, but baseband will remain same on your iPhone.

Yes, you can. Do keep a backup of everything on your computer and save SHSH blobs of 3.1.2 firmware.

There is no way to downgrade your device. The only way that you could downgrade your device is if you had previously saved SHSH blobs through Cydia.

i just tried to jailbreak my ipod touch and sn0wbreeze says “This device cannot be ajilbroken with sn0wbreeze unless ti is already jailbroken. If your iPod touch is an MC model then you cannot use sn0wbreeze. you cannot use sn0wbreeze with spirit.” i get this message when it asks for my ipsw file and select it…..???? any ideas?
