Dubai Police will use BlackBerry Messenger to interact with Public

Dubai, like other Middle-East and Asian countries, does not have a very “good” relationship with the Research In Motion’s BlackBerry. UAE considering BlackBerry a “security threat” being the biggest of all.

The scene looks changing now. Dubai Police, through their official Twitter account, declared that they will use BBM for what they call “awareness campaigns” and posted their PIN for people to add. There is no clear explanation about what this “awareness campaigns” going to be. Some people speculate it to be a way to make public announcements.

This actually makes sense because from last year BlackBerry has seen a growth in market and audience too. The growing popularity of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) gives a clear idea why this is a good decision to interact with public and send announcements/notices.

Dubai Police is now the first country to incorporate BlackBerry technology for this purpose. Countries need some similar way to reach out to the maximum audience and interact on the move.
