Microsoft has released few important details of its forthcoming operating system, Windows 7. Microsoft has accepted the failure of Windows Vista which launched in 2006 and they said that Windows 7 will replace the disappointing Windows Vista in January 2010.Microsoft will release Windows 7 with new features and applications.

- Touch screen capability- Microsoft announced the touch screen capability in Windows 7 that will allow users to perform various tasks without using mouse.
- An updated task bar- Windows 7 will have an updated task bar with previews of opened windows.
- New look to the desktop- Windows 7 will be getting new improved look to its desktop.
- Optimized for laptops- It will be optimized for laptops so that it can run smoothly on laptops.
- Faster boot up time- Windows 7 will feature faster boot up time than other operating systems.
- Some other features- Windows 7 will also contain features to coordinate and access files over networks, and to automatically configure settings for different networks. Windows 7 will include useful features of Windows Vista like Calendar, Windows Mail, Movie Maker, Contacts and Photo Gallery. Users can download these features free from the Microsoft website.
Microsoft is getting lots of competition these days from various companies in the world. Google’s online word processors, spreadsheets and presentation programs are also giving tough competition to Microsoft office suit. Hence Microsoft is planning to launch free online version of office suit.
