Game Boy Emulator for Windows Phone 7 Coming Soon

Wanna play Game Boy Color games on Windows Phone 7? Well, Samuel Blanchard has developed a new emulator for Game Boy fans, which runs on Windows Phone 7 devices.

Game Boy Emulator

Following video demo will give you an idea about the Windows Phone 7 emulator.

Here’s what developer has to say (Roughly Translated Text) -

I just put up a Silverlight application to emulate a Game Boy Pocket (Color yet) on WP7.

The emulator is far from complete. It lacks particular, the management of the Flash RAM and the backup status in the game but still playable. The display of pixels on the screen is super fast and uses a trick which I will discuss in a future article.

Microsoft team is not really keen about homebrew development, and they may not allow developers to build related games or apps for Windows Phone 7 platform. So if you want to install and experience third party tools like emulators, you’ll probably need to unlock the device.

As far as this emulator is concerned, it lacks in Flash RAM and Game Backup status, which should be fixed soon. The developer is also not looking to place his emulator on Marketplace, as Microsoft doesn’t accept such apps on their new OS.

Earlier this week, Microsoft team made some interesting moves to attract more third party developers and hackers, and we hope that they continue to surprise us with their developments.
