Google+ Stats: Male Dominant, No Place for Layman & U.S. Friendly

Google’s new project in online business, Google+, has created a lot of buzz over internet forums and communities. The recently launched social network site is currently breaking all the records set by previous projects such as Google Buzz and Google Wave.

In this week, Google+ has already crossed the 10 million registered users landmark and is showing the signs of becoming a profitable social network site in the future. However, some third party sites have gathered quite interesting statistics about Google+ users.

According to SocialStatistics, Google+ looks like a male dominant social network, as it consists of 86.8% male accounts. Another third party site, FindPeopleOnPlus, which reportedly curates data from million Google+ accounts, has found out 73.7% of male presence on the site.

Apparently, it has been noted several times that most of the men get used to tech related things pretty quickly as compared to the women. So, we should give more time to Google+ to reach to the people who are not aware of it.

The stats site has also shared more interesting details about the occupation of people who have signed up on Google+. As per the initial records, Google+ seems to be surrounded by geeks and creative people. Engineers, Developers, Designers, Writers and Programmers have shown their presence significantly on this new social site. Have a look at the following numbers -

Surprisingly, this “social” network is still not reached to the layman, who loves to be a social person in real life.

Considering the users’ nationality, U.S. users have quickly joined the new network and it reflects in the chart as well. U.S. based enthusiasts have occupied almost 50% of total users, whereas other countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, U.K. etc. are way behind in the competition.

These numbers might look a bit odd as compared to Facebook and Twitter, but we should not forget that Google+ is not an established site as other sites. It will take its own time to evolve in the ecosystem, and obviously it depends on how people react to the latest buzz. So far, tech related people have shown good response to the well designed and organized features of Google+.
