Google’s Android mobile operating system has managed to gain the attention of users, as many people have started showing interest in Android based phones. Mobile manufacturing companies are also launching their phones with Android 2.1 OS, which is quite fast and easy to use.
However, Android 2.1 lacks in many important features as compared to other mobile OS. Recently, some sources have tipped that Google is planning to launch Android 2.2 “froyo” in the market.
According to AndroidandMe.com, Google might release Android 2.2 OS in upcoming Google I/O 2010. Google’s largest developer event is scheduled at Moscone Center, San Francisco on May 19th.
AndroidandMe guys have shared their Google Analytics stats, which clearly indicate that Android 2.2 is definitely coming soon.

Although this update sounds exciting, no one has an idea about the features of Android 2.2. Some sources suggest that this froyo firmware update will bring facilities like FM radio, Flash 10.1 and JIT compiler.
Old Android devices have been receiving Android 2.1 update, but it’s not confirmed whether they will get Android 2.2 or not. Let’s keep the fingers crossed and hope that Android 2.2 will run on old phones.
Update: Android 2.2 Froyo Announced Officially.
