Recently, Apple has released new firmware update iPhone 3.1.3, which also updates the old baseband to new baseband 05.12.01. There is no unlocking tool available for the new baseband, but users can jailbreak the devices with popular jailbreaking tools like Redsn0w, Blackra1n.
An iPhone hacker at Gull1b0ard has published an article about his new jailbreaking tool, Gull1hack, which he claimed to be running on all the devices with iPhone 3.1.3 firmware. Hacker has also explained the way he found the exploit in boot system of iPhone 3GS.
He says -
While booting, we overrun the buffer memory, letting the iPhone think there is something wrong; But in the moment it tries to enter safe mode, we send a boot signal like Blackra1n or Redsn0w.
He has put up a small video to confirm the ‘Gull1hack’ app. You can watch its video below.
Of course, it’s a new jailbreaking tool and iPhone dev team has not confirmed anything about it. The tool is not available for public use, but it might come out very soon. I would not recommend you to try this tool as it may have bugs or errors that can damage the phone. It would be a wise decision to stay away from it and let professionals try out.
