Login name and Password plays important role in computer world. Even operating system asks for login name and password before we can use its features. Remembering lots of passwords at a time is a difficult job for common man. Many people forget operating system password and can’t access any data.
Today, I’m going to tell you few methods which will help you to reset and recover your Windows XP administrator password.
Windows XP provides a great facility to reset password of different accounts. During installation process of Windows XP, it creates an “Administrator” account without giving any password. You can login to Windows XP using Administrator account and reset password of your account. This is the easiest method to reset Windows XP password.
If above method fails, you should try next method that is using Windows XP CD.
This method requires a working Windows XP CD to reset account password.
- Insert Windows XP CD in CD drive. Boot Window XP and follow all the instructions on screen.
- It will ask to repair existing copy of Windows XP, accept it.
- Press ‘ R ‘ to run the process.
- It will automatically start repairing your operating system.
- Wait for system to restart. When it restarts, don’t do anything, just sit back. Process will start again from where it left.
- Carefully check the progress bar which is displayed on the lower left side of your computer screen. Press Shift + F10, when you see the Installing Devices progress bar.
- You’ll see command prompt window on the screen, type nusrmgr.cpl and hit Enter.
- It will open user accounts from control panel.
- Just remove or change the password of desired account.
- System will perform remaining repair work and after that you can login to your XP account with new password.

I think these methods should work for you, but still all these methods fails to reset and recover Windows XP password then you can try third party applications available on Internet.
Last thing you can do is install new copy of Windows on other partition of hard disk and access your data.
