iCloud Beta goes Live!

Announced in WWDC 2011, Apple’s new project in the cloud business, iCloud, is now officially available for users. iCloud.com is opened for people who have been waiting to explore the exciting features of this new project.

Although the iCloud service is currently in Beta stage, you can still experience the service with your developer account. On the log-in screen, you will be asked to enter the Apple id and password, which will allow you to access the iCloud features. If you don’t have a developer account, you would not get a chance to see what they have included in iCloud. Also, the log-in screen won’t accept Apple account credentials which you use while purchasing apps from iTunes store.

Apple’s designers have uploaded a nicely design log-in page for enthusiasts -

For those who have missed the WWDC keynote, iCloud is a cloud based service from Apple, which offers storage space for users to store music, books, photos, contacts and calendars etc. on a secured account. Basically, you don’t have to use your hard drive to save this information on your computer. You can simply sync important data to your iCloud account and it will be stored permanently.

An enthusiast has shared the video tour of iCloud Beta. Have a look at it below -

As you may know, Apple is not asking any penny from iCloud users and is offering 5 GB of storage on this service (which doesn’t include iTunes Apps, Photos, Music, TV shows etc.). If you still want more space for your account, you can get additional storage at following rates.

  • 10 GB for $20 a year
  • 20 GB for $40 a year
  • 50 GB for $100 a year

Along with iCloud, Apple has updated the iWork application so that it can easily be synced with iCloud account. iOS and Mac developers can develop their apps from here.
