Indian Government Developing A Custom Operating System
The government of India is considering developing its own operating system and anti-virus software due to the increasing cyber attacks on Indian based government websites.
According to Indiatimes, the government of India had formed a high-level panel in February who will work on this ambitious project. According to a government of India – a custom operating system will prevent the international hackers from easily hacking the government websites and steal important data.
The government of India is taking this step after the defense forces of India said that the use of international anti-virus software.
“It’s prudent for the government to develop an open source-based operating system on which it has total control. Codes for even anti-virus software and processors are available which can be customised,” said a technical head of a US-based network security giant.
Within the last few months, hackers from China and Pakistan have tried hacking and stealing data from Indian websites. The defense authorities of India warned the officials not to store any data on systems connected to the Internet. They have also warned the ministries and departments to carry out regular IT system audits.
