The Government of India will surely earn a fortune from the sale of the 3G spectrum among the telecom operators. The revenue of the Government crossed a whooping Rs 51000 crores on Saturday.
Indian Government is assured of a minimum of Rs 51,833 crores from the sale of the 3G spectrum now. The Government had earlier estimated revenue of Rs 35,000 crores from the sale of 3G spectrum in 22 circles among the 9 telecom operators.
The spectrum bid for Delhi and Mumbai crossed the Rs 2000 crores mark. The highest bid for Delhi was Rs 2,080 crores, while that for Mumbai was Rs 2,128 crores. India has the world’s fastest growing mobile and telecom market. Telecom Minister
A. Raja, Telecom Minister, said that the Government expects to earn around Rs 55000 crores from the sale of 3G spectrum and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services. The auction of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) service will start after the bidding of the 3G spectrum ends. Hopefully, the sale of 3G spectrum will get over by the end of this week.
The 3G technology definitely has great features, but it would be interesting to see the response of Indian customers. As far as end users are concerned, we feel that the prices of 3G services will be much higher.
