iPhone 4 in India – Expected Price, Release Date & More

The iPhone 4 was officially announced from Steve Jobs yesterday. The iPhone 4 will be launched in US, France, Germany, Netherlands, France, and the UK from 24 June onwards. By the month of September, Apple expects to ship the iPhone 4 to 88 countries worldwide. Sadly, in the list of 88 countries, there was no mention about India.

There was a rumor on Twitter today that the iPhone 4 will be brought to India by Vodafone, by the month of August. However, we have not heard any confirmation from Apple officials.

The device is expected to be available in the grey market by the month of September/October. We expect the price of the 16GB iPhone 4 to be somewhere around 50,000 INR. Consider yourself lucky if you get your hands on the iPhone 4 at a lower price.

Along with the official launch of the iPhone 4, Apple also dropped the price of the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3GS is now available for $99 in the US. Even though there has been a drop in the price of the iPhone 3GS, we don’t expect the “official” price of the device in India to go down. As of now, the iPhone 3GS is available in India for anywhere between Rs 35000 to Rs 42000.

How to buy iPhone 4 in India?

Unfortunately, iPhone is not so popular in India and only few people are passionate about Apple’s products. All iPhone versions have failed to make any significant impact on Indian telecom market. So, it’s quite possible that iPhone 4 launch will be delayed in India.

Well, here is how you can buy iPhone 4 in India -

1. Online Shops – There are many online shops available today through which you can easily buy iPhone 4.

2. Relatives – Convince your foreign based relatives to send a new iPhone or ask someone to bring it while coming back to India. Keep in mind that the iPhone 4 is available in the U.S for $199 from AT&T with a two-year contract. If someone breaks the contract, he/she needs to shell out $800 or so to terminate the contract!

3. Grey Market (Not legal) – If you are willing to pay much higher price for the phone, go ahead and try your luck. It’s really not that worth to spend precious money over the iPhone 4 and I would certainly not recommend you to buy it from grey market.
