It's very easy to convert current sim card into micro sim card.

With the type of connectivity here in India, iPhone 3GS will be more than enough. Although, the Retina Display seems to be tempting. Even for FaceTime, one have to have two iPhone 4 to call. And I don't think anyone will spend 50K+50K just for a Video Call facility.

Any how as listed by the apple officials in the 88 countries iPhone 4 will be released in the month of september,.. but unfortunately India was not found in list,.. and so to look further with micro SIM card and the mindsets of the Indians.. it doesn't seems that iPhone 4 will get through this year and so on…

you just cut your original simcard in its shape making sure that the golden strip is safe. I tried it my aircel sim and it is still working as it used to work.

Yep, it works flawlessly! Many people in India have been using the same technique to use iPad 3G, which also requires Micro SIM card.

Hi Aniket, If you are referring to iphone 4 you can try from UK, France, Germany and Japan aprt from US. But if you can wait till end of July or August(not sure), you can get it from Australia as many phone unlocked in australia have little or no problems in India. But in case of Iphone 3gs, u can get it from anywhere locked/unlocked as our grey market experts can unlock/jailbreak it for you.

No, jailbreak for iPhone 4 is not released for end users. You will have to wait for few more weeks to get the jailbreak and unlock tool.

Get an unlocked iPhone 4 from UK. It will work in India without any problem. Of course, antenna issue is still there in the phone, so I can't really assure you about it. You'll have to use bumpers or cases to fix this issue.

apple online stores sell all iphones sim free. check their website, you might be lucky.

I too have a similar query Harshad, I too want to get a iPhone 4 locked version from US and try to unlock it in India (Bangalore) and use it with Indian service provider (Airtel or Vodaphone). If you are planning to get it from US, you will have to pay much more money. You simply can't break AT&T's contract.

And Yes, you will be able to unlock iPhone 4 in India once the proper tool is out.

If you claim to be so called comp savvy.. then u must knw that phones which are not on contract are already unlocked

i tried everything before the AT&T contract was just $200,and at that time u could just get it to india and jailbreak it, but now they have made a refundable advance of $500… so not possible and in singapore the iphone 4 cost u like 40k.. id prefer u ppl to wait for it to come to india.. as per the istore ppl in bangalore its gonna be coming in spetember sometime.. the ipad just came to bangalore officially! so when it comes oficially its gonna be lesser something like 35-40k.. and the prices of 3gs will come down..

Let me clear few things here. The price tag is quite attractive, but you will have to spend a lot of money to get an iPhone 3GS from the US. Apple releases iPhones with AT&T contract, which means you will have to sign the two years deal with the company.

Here’s a simple calculation –
iPhone = iPod Touch + Phone

The basic model of new iPod Touch costs around Rs.12k in India. So, iPod Touch + Phone i.e. iPhone will obviously cost more than $99 or Rs. 4.5k.

As far as jailbreaking and unlocking is concerned, you don’t have to worry about it.

Factory Unlock will definitely work in India. I heard they are selling Unlocked iPhone4 in US. So, buy it in the UK?

Unlock essentially means you can insert any sim that you want and it will work. So, go ahead and buy but it’ll be probably cheaper in US.
