iPhone 4 Prototype Up for Sale on eBay; Bids rise to $10000+ [Updated]

Last year, we saw the leakage saga of prototype models of iPhone 4 and Gizmodo team apparently bought one for around $10,000. Today, iPhone Dev team member, pytey, has noticed something similar on eBay listings.

Apple’s black iPhone 4 prototype device is now available once again on the popular shopping site. Here’s how it looks -

Listed at $98 in the beginning, this model has managed to catch some attention from serious bidders and now the price has gone up to $1000+. Also, it’s important to note that this auction is open for next 8 days.

What does it make so special? First of all, it’s an iPhone 4 prototype device, which is of course, not available anywhere in the market. Other than that, this model shows significant differences in hardware and software as compared to the original iPhone 4.

Here’s the list of things, as mentioned by seller, that you will find on this device -

  • No (+) and (-) sign on volume buttons.
  • It’s a GSM model.
  • Memory size is not displayed; XX GB
  • Doesn’t activate with iTunes
  • Doesn’t work on AT&T carrier
  • No contract

Well, you might think it’s easy to buy such devices on the internet, but don’t forget that Apple can always track their products as well as employees who were designated to work on the confidential project. And that’s how they got breakthrough in Gizmodo’s iPhone 4 leak case.
