iPhone 4S arrives in India! Apple’s highly successful phone, iPhone 4S, has finally entered into the Indian market.
Indian fans were eagerly waiting for this day, but Apple’s “most amazing phone yet” has disappointed everyone in the country. Both the carriers, Aircel and Airtel, will be launching this phone on November 25th, and they have already started the preorder facility for users’ convenience. But the disappointing thing is that Apple’s iPhone 4S (cheapest model) costs Rs. 44,500 (~$900).

Starting from Rs. 45k, iPhone 4S costs as high as 58k in India, which is an outrageous price for most of the mobile phone buyers in India. Apple might have sold millions of phones in global market this year, and they will probably sell much more iPhones in the forthcoming festive season. However, Apple team should have learned from their earlier mistakes.
Since the first generation iPhone, Indian consumers have been complaining about the launch delay and the price of devices. This time Apple did a good job by introducing iPhone 4S so early in India, but this decision is not favoring the end users as the price is unaffordable. Many cell phone users who wanted to buy an iPhone 4S would now think of other reasonable alternatives like Android and Windows Phone devices.
Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus and Nokia’s Windows Phone based Lumia 800 have got decent reviews from those who have managed to grab these devices from foreign markets. The Galaxy Nexus runs on Google’s latest operating system Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Nokia Lumia 800 runs on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Both these operating systems are as powerful as Apple’s iOS 5, so now people have more reliable options if they don’t want to burn their pockets with iPhone 4S.
Also, we should not forget that many users have reported the battery draining issue on their iPhones and Apple is still working with its team to come up with a proper solution, though the iOS 5.0.1 update failed to resolve this issue.
With all the price hike issues in India, iPhone 4S has surely become a dream phone for common man! You can just dream about it. So, if you’re going to buy an iPhone in India, you will have to consider all the aspects of this phone as well as your budget.
