PwnageTool 4.1 has now been released for all iOS 4.1 jailbreakers. It works on Mac platform and can jailbreak iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad and Apple TV 2G.
One of the important benefits of PwnageTool 4.1 is that it saves the baseband value of iPhone and lets you jailbreak the device with old baseband. This means that you can easily unlock the device to use on any carrier.
Here’s a quick how-to guide to jailbreak the iDevices using PwnageTool 4.1. Please note that the following guide can also be referred while jailbreaking other iOS 4.1 based devices.
You can create the custom firmware with ‘Simple Mode’, but I’m providing ‘Expert Mode’ guide.
Guide to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G iOS 4.1 with PwnageTool 4.1
Requirements:
- iOS 4.1
- PwnageTool 4.1
- iTunes 10
Steps to follow:
1. Sync your iPod Touch 4G with iTunes 10 and backup important data.
2. Open PwnageTool 4.1; choose ‘Expert Mode’ and click on iPod Touch image.
3. Browse the iOS 4.1 firmware file and click on Ok.
4. Click on Next button and add Cydia packages or any other custom packages.
5. Now, select Build option and click on Next button.
6. Save the custom file on your desktop.
7. Follow the screen instructions and put your device in DFU mode.
8. Once done, restore your custom firmware through iTunes 10.
9. That’s it! Now wait for iTunes to install your custom firmware file on iPod Touch 4G.
