Microsoft to launch Cheap Windows Phone 7 in India

Windows Phone 7 Few days back, Microsoft announced their first two phones, Kin One and Kin Two, which are having awesome features of social networking users. Of course, these features packed phone will be available at higher prices.

Microsoft is quite aware of the fact that developing countries like India don’t have a good market for such high price phones. Nokia, the successful mobile manufacturing company, has single handedly ruled the Indian market for several years by producing consumer oriented devices.

It seems that Microsoft has figured out the potential of Indian market and now they are going to launch a low cost version of Windows Phone 7 for Indian users. Sudeep Bharati, director at developer tools for Microsoft India’s Visual Studio Team, has confirmed this news in Microsoft’s TechEd 2010 event.

Features and Price:

According to the initial reports, this phone will feature 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, small multitouch screen and 128 MB RAM. The low cost model will also be different from version 1 to be launched at the end of this year. As far as price is concerned, it will cost around $500-$600.

Apple’s iPhone, iPad didn’t get too much attention from Indian users as they are still facing major issues such as high price and release dates. Microsoft’s strategy of producing special version of Windows Phone 7 looks promising, but time will decide the future of their phone.

Microsoft is looking down on the Indian market. It dumps Windows Mobile 6.5 phones on India, that it cannot sell in the US. It takes out features from Windows Phone 7, to sell on the Indian market, while selling a more fully featured version in the US.

Rather than accepting a hobbled phone platform, India would be better served by full-featured open-source software, such as Google's Android and Nokia's Meego. Because they are open-source, the handset OEM pays nothing for them, so they don't need to cut out features.

  2. y r they providing ram only 128mb i think google’s android is way better with min 256mb ram for much lesser price
