Microsoft’s Arc Touch Mouse – A Competitor to Apple’s Magic Trackpad?

Well, you will have to give it to Microsoft this time around! If we believe on the images at the end of this post, Microsoft has planned a multi-touch mouse for its retailers in Europe. They have begun publishing listings for a product dubbed the “Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse” with the product code RVF-00003.

Notably Microsoft also registered the domain “arctouchmouse.com” late in the March, which is currently pointed to the Bing site as most other Microsoft placeholder sites do.

As far as the features front is concerned, the mouse arches its back for the unique experience. The mouse features touch-scrolling, a battery indicator, the ability to track on almost any surface, and a 2.4GHz nano transceiver that no doubt plugs into your laptop’s USB port.

Although it may very well turn out to be just a Windows-version of the Apple Magic Mouse, but even so, it could mean users can take advantage of the native multi-touch support in Windows 7 without owning one of the expensive multi-touch PCs. In turn, this could also re-energize the Windows Touch platform for developers as more users will be able to access multi-touch features in their applications.

The mouse is rumored to be available for $69.99; around $1.3 more than the Apple Magic mouse or the Magic trackpad that was released earlier in the year.
