Today, iPhone dev team has released a new unlocking tool, Ultrasn0w 0.92 to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. Earlier ultrasn0w 0.9 was working perfectly, but in the latest firmware update it has started giving some weird problems to iPhone users.
After jailbreaking iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with PwnageTool 3.1.4 and unlocking it with ultrasn0w, many users found that carrier name and logo was missing. Now, this bug has been removed from old ultrasn0w tool and ultrasn0w 0.92 comes with proper fix.
As we know, Apple has released a security firmware update of iPhone firmware. The iPhone OS 3.0.1 fixes SMS vulnerability, which secures the iPhone from attackers.
If you upgrade your jailbroken iPhone then iPhone 3.0.1 firmware will break the Jailbreak for iPhone. But iPhone Dev team has confirmed that we can use Redsn0w 0.8 and Ultrasn0w 0.9 to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone.

UltrasnOw 0.9 solves all major issues and supports iPhone 3G as well as iPhone 3G S. Few days back Geohot has also released PurplesnOw, but it gives errors while unlocking the iPhone. However, its updated version PurplesnOw RC 2 is now available for iPhone users.
