Ultimate Google Buzz Tips and Tricks


Google Buzz Google has released its new social service Google Buzz to enable social networking feature in Gmail service. It basically provides an interface to get connected with entire world.

I don’t know how many of you have tried exploring Google Buzz, but I have found out few tips and tricks to enhance the entire experience. You should also try these tricks to get more personalized with Google Buzz.

1. Access Google Buzz

Some of the Gmail users have not been able to access Google Buzz from their account. If you are not getting access to it, try following links.

2. Hide Google Buzz from email inbox

You can hide Buzz from appearing in your Gmail inbox by creating a Buzz filter. Here’s how you can do it -

Select Create a filter in Gmail account –> Add “label:buzz” in Has the words field –> Click Next –> Check ‘Skip the Inbox’ –> Finish the process by creating a filter for Buzz.

3. Find Your Posts on Buzz

Use given text in Gmail search bar to find out all your posts.

commenter:email@gmail.com

Replace above email id with your Gmail address.

4. Google Buzz on Twitter

Google Buzz is being framed as ‘Twitter killer’, but as of now Twitter users are not willing to shift to Google’s new service. If you want to use both the services simultaneously, you can send the updates from Buzz to Twitter using read2twitter.

Go to read2twitter and sync your Twitter account. You will need a Google profile number id. Get it from here.

5. Google Buzz Plugin for Bloggers

If you are using WordPress platform for your blog, you can easily post Buzz updates for your blog readers. You can download the WordPress plugin from following link.

6. Bold and Italic!

Google Buzz doesn’t offer any particular feature to edit your text, but you can use following symbols to write in bold and italic form.

  • Bold: *Your Text*
  • Italic: _Your Text_
  • Strikethrough: -Your Text-

7. Buzz Subscription

8. Chrome Buzz

Chrome Buzz is actually a free extension for Google Chrome browser, which allows you to use Buzz in the browser. You can download this extension from following link.

9. Google Buzz via Email

Sounds interesting? Here’s how you can do it -

Whatever you want to update in Google Buzz, send it through this Email buzz@gmail.com. Don’t forget to write Subject of the Email as it will be considered as your post update. Please note that Body of the Email will be ignored from your update.

10. Buzz it for Bloggers

Buzz It Buzz it is a cool widget for bloggers. Bloggers can now use it to send their blog post update on Google Buzz. Get the following code and put it into your blog’s code.

In order to work this code successfully on your blog, you will need a small Buzz image which will work as social networking icon for Google Buzz. Upload any small Buzz image to the root directory of your blog with given name in above code.

11. Buzz It for Firefox

As Google Chrome has Buzz extension, Firefox has it too.

Buzz It! will make a buzz status update via Gmail with the link and title of the webpage you are viewing. It will also shorten URLs with Bit.ly, allowing the user to monitor their link statistics.

12. Remove Buzz Notifications from Gmail

Whenever I open up my Gmail account I see lots of Buzz notification in the sidebar. I personally don’t like those Buzz update counts, but there is Greasemonkey script to remove such notifications.

13. Google Buzz Private

One of the main flaws of Google Buzz is less privacy for users. Anyone can check the profile of your friends, relatives from your updates. However, you can avoid it by editing your Google profile. Uncheck the “3rd Option” in the profile (See the image below) and save the changes.

14. Use Buzz with Google Reader

If you want to share any useful link, article on Buzz through your Google Reader, you can do it easily with “Share Button” displayed at the end of each post.

15. Turn off Buzz

Well, if you are annoyed with Google Buzz, you can simply remove it from your Gmail account. Scroll down in your account and click on Turn off Buzz option.
