Windows Phone 7 has come with a bang. With the amazing user interface and phenomenal web integrations, not a single phone junkie is left unimpressed with it. Launched yesterday at New York, Windows Phone 7 was introduced on some of the most amazing hardware configured smartphones like HTC HD7.
Compared to iPhone’s iOS and Google’s Android, the Windows Phone 7 platform showed some much improved features from its past and somewhat comparable to its’ market competitors. A better improved UI that’s a sure shot comparable to iOS, the Metro UI of Windows Phone 7 charmed everyone. The Facebook and other web services are awesome and competitive for Android.
Windows Phone 7 Tiles
A major change Windows Phone 7 brought in mobile interface is the use of tiles. There are no shortcuts or icons. There are Tiles. The platform is made such wise that every application can have a customizable tile for home screen. The title, unlike icons and widgets, gives real time interaction and hence is much friendly.
With the Tiles, users can like check their Facebook Wall, updates, notifications without actually opening the application. Sweet.
Camera To Cloud
Windows Phone 7 makes the dream true – the web integration at its best. Now, every picture you click using your camera is automatically uploaded to the cloud server or any other photo service you want, like Flickr or Windows Live Photos. This feature enables easy sharing and foremost, secure backup.
Minimal, But Feature-Rich Email Client
The email software of Windows Phone 7 is what impressed me most. No clutter, just the mail it is. A very simpleton interface, thanks to Metro UI, which sorts email in a simple order with just subject title, sender and a summary. Opening an email, the interface again doesn’t distract you from reading the mail content. The support for Office documents is another amazing feature. You can access, edit and save Office documents from the mail itself. Let it be a PowerPoint presentation, you can view is as it would be seen on a computer, you can edit it and save it.
This makes it one of the best email clients you can get.
Bing Services
Windows Phone 7 is Microsoft, so a Bing feature is inevitable. But this time, it is something really useful. Like Android’s Google Voice Search, Bing has a similar feature in Windows Phone 7 called TellMe. TellMe is an auto voice search service which not only shows web results but also from your phonebook, application data and even the maps and routes. Another Bing feature is vast directory for places, thanks to Bing Maps. You can do a real time search for restaurants, check their routes etc.
Hubs
Windows Phone 7 brings another new term ‘Hubs’ to the platform. Hub is like a major menu / feature in the phone. Like the People Hub isn’t just a phonebook –it actually lets you do even more with your contact. Integration with Facebook let’s you write on your contact’s wall from within the hub. Amazing, huh? There’s even more. The Xbox Live Hub lets you play games on the Xbox Live network, from the phone. Games? There are titles available like the bestseller Sims 3 available for Windows Phone 7. The gaming experience is even enhanced by the powerful 3D graphics execution Windows Phone 7 platform can do. Woohoo!
