The gi is much more than just a piece of clothing; it’s a symbol of martial arts tradition, a tool for discipline and focus, and a functional garment optimized for training. But not all gis are created equal. The 93 brand gi is an example of high quality and great design at an affordable price point.

93 brand is a New York-based gi company that makes budget, premium and lightweight gis in addition to no gi gear and streetwear. Their gis have become popular in the BJJ community thanks to their excellent durability, great design and competitive prices. They also offer an “unbreakable” 60-day returns policy that allows you to return your gi even if you’ve worn it and washed it, if you change your mind or if the size is not right.

Their Standard Issue series is a minimalist everyday gi featuring a light 375 GSM jacket and 9 oz twill pants, with reinforcements on the knee and skirt. It also has a clean, white finish and blue stitching on the lapel and cuffs. It’s a great value for the money and has positive user reviews citing its comfort, strength, and good looks.

Scott has been testing the gi and has found it to be very comfortable. He used the A3Long size and found it to be very comparable to a Shoyoroll Americana in size A3Slim (size XS in the women’s version). He notes that it did shrink a bit during washing but was still a very good fit after a few weeks of rolling, regular washing and daily drying.
