Acha dhin is a story of a family from Jharkhand, settled in God's Own Country, Kerala. They have lived here for the last 20 years, even though people consider them as outsiders. Sheetal, the wife of Durgaprasad gets severely ill and requires immediate medical treatment. The hospital in the city charges a huge amount. When he fails to meet the expenses, he borrows money from a terrorist group.
Mammootty gives a convincing performance as the main character Durgaprasad. He carries the role with ease, and brings the North Indian character to life. Debutant Mansi Sharma is also impressive, and proves her worth in the industry. Other actors like Padmaraj Ratheesh, Kishore, Renji Panicker, Maniyanpilla Raju, Sudheer Karamana etc are adequate in their roles.
The film has a decent beginning and impresses to some extent, but it loses its grip after the interval. The screenplay, penned by AC Vijeesh, is below average and does not work well after the major twist. Director Marthandan also fails to effectively narrate the dull plot and the movie does not have a proper flow from the start to the end.
Acha dhin is a below-average flick, which is a disappointing one for the audience. Mammootty and Mansi Sharma perform their best, but the movie does not have a strong story to offer. The cinematography by Pradeep Nair is good, but the editing by Mahesh Raj is not up to the mark. The background score and songs composed by Bijibal are just ok.
