amd radeon r6 graphics review

If you’re planning to build or upgrade your PC, we recommend taking a look at the AMD Radeon R6 graphics card. We’ve prepared a detailed review with the most important specifications including performance rating, memory size, technology, compatibility and gaming test results.

The Radeon R6 is an integrated graphics card that is found in some AMD APUs such as the A10 Micro-6700T. The GPU is based on the GCN architecture and features 128 shader cores on two Compute Units. The clock speed varies according to the model and TDP (ranging from 12 to 35 Watt). The GPU doesn’t have dedicated memory and uses main system memory instead, supporting up to DDR3L-1333. It supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.4, Mantle and has an integrated UVD video decoder that can help the CPU when processing videos.

The AMD A10 8700P is a low-end desktop chip with a Radeon R6 inbuilt GPU. It can’t handle modern AAA games at 720p, even on low settings. For example, the game Overwatch requires 20-25 frames per second on medium settings. The same goes for other high-end games such as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Rise Of The Tomb Raider or Witcher 3 at 720p. The Radeon R6 iGPU in the A10 8700P is worse than the older R7 240 (which is a dedicated desktop GPU) and thus is not capable of handling demanding games. The best way to assess the performance of this GPU is by running some synthetic benchmarks.
