Polymer is a key ingredient to progressing into mid to end-game territory in Ark as it is required for many industrial stage recipes as well as high-level weapons and armor. It is also required for crafting certain creatures and a variety of structures in the game, especially those that require advanced engrams.

In the early stages of the game, there are several ways to obtain Polymer. However, the most efficient way is to craft it using a Fabricator with obsidian and cementing paste. It is also obtainable through killing creatures that drop it or through looting the corpses of certain animals.

How to Get Polymer in Ark

There are two different types of Polymer in ARK: organic and artificial. Organic Polymer is a natural material that can be obtained through killing certain creatures such as the Kairuku, Hesperornis, Mantis, and Karkinos. It can also be gathered from the bee hives found in the Wasteland and from the Corrupted Creatures that can be found on Extinction.

Players can use a pickaxe of metal or stone, a chainsaw, a sword, or even a wooden club to harvest Organic Polymer from these creatures’ corpses. However, it is recommended to use a weapon with a higher damage rating than the bare hands as doing so will allow players to collect more of this material.

In addition to this, Organic Polymer can also be harvested from the plants in the Aberration Cave located in rk Fjordur and rk Scorched Earth. In order to obtain this, players must go into the Mines of Moria from the back entrance (85,5) and then proceed to the Aberration area where they can find the plants with yellow flowers. These plants can be broken with a sword or club and are harvested by a carnivore tame such as a bear.
