This certified refurbished product is tested and guaranteed to look and work like new. It may show some signs of wear and tear from normal use.
The Q302LA-BHI3T11 has an aluminum finish and a 13.3" HD screen that can be flipped at nearly any angle from 0 to 360 degrees. Its Intel Core i3 processor, Intel HD 5500 graphics and 6-GB of system memory deliver good performance for everyday computing. A Chiclet keyboard with a soft feel makes typing comfortable, and the latest Windows 10 operating system provides fast, intuitive control.
Our review unit uses a BOE HB133WX1-402 panel that's not as common on budget notebooks. This low-cost panel suffers from the common screen-door effect at higher resolutions and saturation levels. A glossy coating further exacerbates glare and reflections in outdoor light. Thankfully, unlike most cheap notebooks, the display backlight will not artificially dim in battery-powered mode.
CPU benchmarks place the Asus Q302LA-BHI3T11 alongside other models with the same Core i3 processor, including the Pavilion 13 and Aspire V3. Unlike many cheaper laptops, the Asus does not suffer from artificial throttling under synthetic stress tests, maintaining its full 1.9 GHz clock even with Prime95 and FurMark active.
Asus includes a 500 GB 5400 RPM Toshiba hard drive as standard storage. This is relatively slow compared to 7200 RPM drives, but still faster than the more common SATA III SSDs. In our testing, the hard drive's average transfer rate of 84 MB/s in HD Tune is respectable.
