braun thermoscan 7 review

The Braun thermoscan 7 is the best ear thermometer on the market. It is small enough to fit in your baby's ear canal and takes less than a second to take a reading. It also stores the last nine temperature readings so you can keep track of how much the fever has risen or decreased over time.

It uses infrared technology to quickly take your baby's or toddler's ear temperature by measuring the heat emitted from the eardrum and surrounding tissues. The tip is pre-warmed to avoid errors caused by the cooling effect of the ear canal and disposable lens filters prevent cross contamination. It's easy to read and can give you audible and visual reassurance that the reading is correct.

The Geratherm Mercury-Free Oral Glass thermometer is smaller than the Braun but it's just as quick and easy to use. It doesn't require a probe cover, which helps to reduce germs when taking multiple readings or for siblings to use at the same time. It does, however, offer memory functionality so you can record all of your child's temperatures and have them readily available if needed.

The Elepho eTherm Infrared Ear & Forehead Thermometer is small and durable. It's the only on-the-go thermometer we've found that doesn't require probe covers and can be used on children and adults. It can measure room, object and liquid temperatures and has a large LED display that's easily visible in the dark. The only downside is that it doesn't have a color-coded backlight or beeps to indicate whether the temperature is normal, slightly elevated or high.
