brilliant grades review

Brilliant Grades was founded in 2020 and offers bite-sized interactive lessons around STEM topics to make them fun and engaging. They hire experienced UK and US tutors to tutor students 1v1 via Zoom. Payments are weekly and tutors need to commit to 10 hours a week for 4 months, although rescheduling is permitted with a two weeks notice.

The teaching style is very much focused on problem solving, using a range of different contexts to teach the key concepts. Lessons are designed to be fun and interactive, and to incrementally challenge students. This approach to learning is particularly good for visual and kinesthetic learners, but is a good fit for all learners. There is also the option to download crib sheets with key terms, diagrams, tables etc on for each lesson which will help students who learn visually or kinesthetically.

Another positive is that mistakes are embraced, and there is plenty of opportunity for students to try again. This approach helps build students confidence and resilience. Tutors report that the students they work with are generally very well behaved and keen to learn.

One negative is that brilliant grades doesn’t offer completion certificates, so if you are looking to develop your skills as part of a professional career then it may not be the right platform for you. However, if you want to develop your skills for personal development then it is certainly worth considering as an alternative to platforms like Coursera or Datacamp.
