The cx composite is an over and under shotgun designed specifically for the budget-minded family that is looking for an all-around gun that can perform in trap, skeet, sporting clays and hunting. In this day and age it can be hard to find a shotgun that can do all of these things, especially in over and under form.
During the SHOT Show we came across the Browning Cynergy CX Composite shotgun (second from top in above photo). This over/under gun is designed for a variety of shooting disciplines, but it also fits the bill for families that don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on multiple different guns.
This 12 gauge over/under shotgun is built on Miroku’s monobloc system and features a ventilated top and side rib, satin finish Grade I walnut stock and three Invector-Plus Midas grade choke tubes included. It is available in two barrel lengths.
It is fitted with a cocking handle in the stock and a detachable box magazine. The gun weighs in at a trim 6 pounds, 7 ounces and has a 14-inch length of pull.
I had the opportunity to test this model and I was impressed with the quality of this shotgun. It is light and smooth to shoot, handles recoil well and has a very good trigger.
The gun has a low profile receiver that is made with the innovative MonoLock Hinge. This hinge design eliminates the need for a traditional trunnion hinge, and lowers the action while reducing weight. It is said to have up to 300 percent more surface area that can be pivoting on than a conventional trunnion hinge.
