Century Arms, long an importer of surplus foreign-made AK-47s, has developed its own line of 100% made in the USA AK rifles and pistols. Their Centurion line has been updated with a variety of upgrades and features that make it a real competitor to the AR-15 when it comes to the popular 7.62x39mm caliber.

Unlike other AKs which utilize stamped receivers, the C39v2 uses a milled one that was created from an 11-pound block of 4140 ordnance quality steel. It is also equipped with an improved trigger that has a much smoother and crisp feel than the standard AK trigger. Its safety lever features a bolt hold open notch and the magazine release is an ambidextrous paddle to eliminate needing to remove your thumb from the grip for operation.

The C39v2 ships with two Magpul PMAG 30 AK/AKM magazines. These magazines have been thoroughly tested with a variety of metal and polymer 30-round AK magazines to root out any manufacturing quirks. They all worked well in the Century AK.

Zeroing from the prone position at 100 yards with Wolf ammo, the c39v2 shot a consistent 2-inch group. These were good groups for an AK-pattern carbine and are very comparable to the accuracy of many AR-15 rifles that cost twice as much.

The c39 is a very versatile gun for those looking to customize it for their own needs. For example, mounting optics to the Troy top rail is a simple project that anyone can do. The C39 also has a threaded barrel, making it easy to install muzzle devices such as brakes and suppressors.
