Cobra has been dancing along the tightrope of innovation for decades. The company used to be seen as the step-brother of Titleist and now they are attracting a younger crowd with their fresh designs and celebrity endorsements by players like Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler. The cobra amp cell irons review have a distinct look with their unique metalwood face-welded construction (Cobra calls this E9 Face Technology).
The longer irons use a larger cavity and are more forgiving than most other modern players’ clubs. The shorter irons have a muscle back design that is easy to work the ball with coming into the greens. Simulator testing shows that these irons gain +4.7 yards over your old set of DCIs sitting in the garage.
Upon hitting the AMP Cell irons, our testers were impressed with how light they feel at address and throughout the swing. This is mainly due to the large cavities that are filled with tungsten in the long irons and a graphite shaft option in the short irons. The irons also feature internal cell weighting that moves the CG to the perimeter of the club, giving it a higher MOI and more forgiveness on miss hits.
The sound of the AMP Cell was a bit different than we are used to hearing from a forged player’s iron, but all our testers enjoyed it. The sound from a solid strike from the longer irons had a muted click and the sound in the shorter muscle backs was very satisfying for a forged player’s iron.
