The silver reflective Omni-Heat lining is a fantastic insulator, wicking moisture and reflecting body heat to keep you warm and dry. The down is also hydrophobic, improving performance in wet conditions.
The combination of a hybrid down and synthetic insulation is an interesting approach, but does make the Platinum 860 heavier and less compressible than some of our other favourites. In addition the pockets are positioned low and covered by the rucksack hipbelt, limiting access to keys, multi-tools, gloves etc. Having said that, this is still a very impressive and well crafted piece of kit.
