A dental assistant provides administrative and clinical support in a dentist’s office. This includes scheduling appointments, monitoring patient charts, taking x-rays and sterilizing equipment. A dental hygienist, on the other hand, cleans teeth and educates patients about their oral health.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and requires students to pass a criminal background check. The school will notify the state if a student fails to pass the background check, but the individual can request an informal hearing with DHCC’s executive officer or a formal appeals process with an administrative judge.
