Denon ah d5200 review

The AH-D5200 is a premium over ear headphone from Denon that draws on their 50+ years of headphone engineering and design. Their proprietary 50mm FreeEdge drivers minimize distortion in the diaphragm to deliver detailed and accurate sound. The headphones are built for extended periods of use through the ergonomic construction, soft engineered leather and over-ear memory foam earpads. They come with a detachable high grade 4N oxygen-free copper cable with a durable metal diecast hanger, perfect for use on your portable music player or in your home Hi-Fi system.

These are large, full size headphones that will feel awkward on smaller heads and are not suited for the daily commute. They are designed for home listening and lounge sessions, late-night movies and old-fashioned active music listening. They are also not as compact as their rivals from HiFiMAN, Sony or Sennheiser and require a larger space for comfortable wear.

They have a beautiful, warm sound and are not overly detailed or harsh in the midrange. They are quite mellow and work best with music genres that have a natural sound, such as soul, jazz and funk. They do not shine with EDM productions, which will often require heavy bass emphasis and tend to sound muddy on these headphones.

The Denon AH-D5200 is a very well made pair of headphones and worth the purchase price in my opinion. The premium materials, high wearing comfort and the incredibly detailed and rich sound they produce are a great match.
