The Eminence in Shadow is one of the more popular isekai anime to hit the scene, and it has garnered quite a following since its debut. The series follows Cid Kagenou, a boy who gets isekai'd into a new fantasy world and sets his sights on becoming the ultimate powerful hero/villain.
The anime is currently airing on Hidive in the United States, and is simulcast on Wednesdays with both subbed and dubbed versions of each episode. The series has a limited free trial for viewers, but once the trial period is up, you will need to subscribe to the service in order to continue watching the series.
As of right now, Hidive is the only streaming platform that carries all of the first season of the anime. Hidive will carry the series until the end of its run, and after that point, the anime will likely move to other platforms.
The series was adapted by Studio Nexus (Chivalry of a Failed Knight) and Kanichi Katou, with character designs by Makoto Iino (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town). The TV anime premiered on October 5, 2022, with Sentai Filmworks simulcasting it on HIDIVE. The series quickly became a fan favorite, and it continues to gain popularity as it moves closer to its conclusion. The manga also has a wide following, and Yen Press has licensed it for release in North America. A special broadcast of the final episode of the anime is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2023, with a major announcement planned for that event.
