Fjallraven Kanken Mini Review

This small backpack is designed for kids but works well for adults too. It can fit a lunch box, drawing pad, wallet, water bottle and a bit more. This small version of a cult-favorite is perfect for a day trip or even as a carry-on item (though we recommend being polite to your seatmate).

The main compartment opens wide and is easily accessible, making it easy to get things in and out. It features two flat pockets on either side, a zippered front pocket, handle at the top and narrow, supple shoulder straps. It’s also made with durable vinylon F fabric, which is waterproof and dirt resistant. That means your bag won’t get soggy when you forget to tighten up your water bottle lid or you get caught in a light rainstorm while out exploring a city.

As a bonus, this backpack comes with a foam pad that’s inserted into the back panel of the bag. This makes it a comfortable and convenient seating cushion when you need to take a break on a park bench or an uncomfortable plastic bus seat.

Another cool feature of the fjallraven kanken mini is that you can use it as a tote bag by tucking in the shoulder straps and carrying it like a purse. That’s a great option when you’re walking around an unfamiliar city and don’t want to be bothered with dangling straps in your way. You can also clip the shoulder straps together to prevent them from getting in your way while you’re shopping.
