Over and under shotguns have been the choice of discerning clay shooters and wingshooters for decades. They’re typically pleasant to shoot and often beautiful. And while the price tag may be prohibitive for some, a well-made fn over under is worth it for those who are willing to spend the money.
FN, or Fabrique Nationale, is better known for their defensive focused PS90 and SCAR rifles but this new competition clays shotgun proves they haven’t forgotten about the hunter/sport shooter. The FN SC-1 is ready to compete right out of the box with features that make it a contender across all competitive shooting disciplines.
It starts with the 28” back-bored ported barrels that are chrome-lined from chamber to muzzle. They’re also equipped with Invector-Plus(tm) stainless steel extended choke tubes that feature knurled bands for easy identification and a blue FN USA Team collar for added style. A 10mm wide ventilated rib with brass mid-bead and fiber-optic front sight provide the ultimate sighting plane for flying targets.
My evaluation gun came with a blow molded fitted case, tools and five different colored fiber tubes (one each of full, modified and improved cylinder). A ziploc bag of spare chokes is included as well.
With a large latch, clearly marked chokes and no complicated safety mechanisms to master, the FN SC-1 over/under makes getting into competition clays shooting as simple as possible. And that’s exactly what it’s designed to do. For more on the FN SC-1 check out this article.
