World Heavyweight champion boxer George Foreman knows a thing or two about cooking, and he's just launched an online store that lets you skip the trip to the butcher to get delicious premium meat cuts delivered right to your doorstep. Called George Foreman's Butcher Shop, the direct to consumer store promises to evoke the traditions and commitment to quality of an old-style butcher with the convenience of ordering and delivery via your laptop or smartphone.
The brand new website is a feast for the eyes (and tastebuds) with beautiful pictures and descriptions of various meat cuts and gourmet sides that will let you create delicious meals. The site features a range of high-quality, premium Angus beef cuts sourced from small family-run ranches as well as chicken, pork and burger options.
We had the opportunity to try out a few cuts and were blown away by the flavor of each. The Peppercorn Crusted Tri-Tip was tender and juicy, with a wonderful flavor and smokiness from the grilling. The cut is becoming more popular, as it's a butcher's cut that's the traditional choice for making Santa Maria style BBQ, the fifth major regional American 'cue style after Texas, Carolina, Memphis and Kansas City.
The slanted surface of the George Foreman grill is designed to drain fat from foods whether you're indoors or out, and the variable temperature control allows you to cook foods at different levels according to their individual needs. The grill is easy to clean and durable, although it can look ugly over time from greese getting stuck to the white surface.
